Until now real-time data collection in drive technology was especially challenging, with rotating powertrains difficult to access with wiring and instrumentation. The R+W industrial gateway supports the wireless transfer of sensor signals from the coupling into downstream systems for measurement, control and data processing.

Intelligent Safety Couplings enhance the product quality of extrusion systems

This coupling, which includes built-in sensor technology, offers the ability to collect load spectrum data (data on the load of an extrusion screw) for a given timeframe. Based on the determined torque and speed, processed materials can be monitored more closely, and the quality of the final product can be improved significantly.

This sensor coupling can be installed between the motor and gearbox input shafts, or on the gearbox output shaft, connected to the load. The coupling system is made with a combination of a disc pack coupling a ball-detent torque limiter.
