As the technical leader and specialist in metal bellows couplings, it was already a given that with the shift to Industry 4.0, and the increasing value of data and its bottom line impact, we don’t just want to keep up, but rather to create change and to work proactively to make it a reality. Until now real-time data collection in drive technology was especially challenging, with rotating powertrains difficult to access with wiring and instrumentation. Intelligent Safety Couplings enhance the product quality of extrusion systems
This coupling, which includes built-in sensor technology, offers the ability to collect load spectrum data (data on the load of an extrusion screw) for a given timeframe. Based on the determined torque and speed, processed materials can be monitored more closely, and the quality of the final product can be improved significantly.

This sensor coupling can be installed between the motor and gearbox input shafts, or on the gearbox output shaft, connected to the load. The coupling system is made with a combination of a disc pack coupling a ball-detent torque limiter.
